I am Sister Henrietta Okoro, a devoted member of the Congregation of Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ). On the sacred day of October 7th, 1989, I made my first religious profession of vows, dedicating my life to the service of our faith and community. I am privileged to be a lifelong member of the cherished family of Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ), where I hold an active voice, voting rights, and the eligibility to be voted for. My journey in service to the Holy Child Jesus continues with unwavering dedication and commitment.
My educational journey includes:
Attending the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska, where I earned my Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Degree in 2011.
Receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree in 2012.
Pursuing further education at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, where I obtained a Master’s Degree in Nursing Science and Clinical Nurse Leadership in 2017.
Nursing Experience:
My nursing career has been diverse, encompassing various specialties such as medical/surgical, geriatric, orthopedic, plastic, oral maxillofacial, bariatric, and my current role involves caring for special surgical patients, specifically in obstetrics/oncology. Additionally, I currently serve as the Chairperson of the TMC hospital Fall Prevention Committee.
Leadership Roles:
I have held numerous leadership positions, including:
HHCJ US Mission Leadership Assistant to the Mission Superior.
Vice President of the Africa Women Religious Conference USA (AWRCUSA).
Kappa Gamma Pi Regent for the Plains region.
Leadership Conference for Women Religious (LCWR) Region XII Border Project Coordinator.
Chairperson for ANEC (African Eucharistic Congress) in 2021 and ANEC 2023 Co-chair.
Community and Church Involvement:
In my current roles, I am actively engaged in serving my community and the Church. I serve as:
The Parish Health Coordinator for the sick and homebound in my local parish.
National Treasurer for African Catholics in the United States.
Representative of the religious in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston Pastoral Council.
National Treasurer for African Catholic Clergy and Women Religious US (ACCCRUS)
Current Position:
I am excited to serve as the Publicity Secretary of the Africa Women Religious Conference USA (AWRCUSA) and look forward to collaborating with fellow members.
